In 2017,  Gord Leighton and others saw a need for an additional radio station to provide local ON AIR programming for the greater Vernon area. So they founded the Vernon Community Radio Society.

Since that time, the society has gotten an approved FM radio frequency, studio space,  and broadcasting equipment. In addition, Valleyfm.ca has been streaming content (and a growing list of local programs) online.

Valley FM is now taking the dream of a locally focused radio station into reality and is broadcasting on 97.9 FM  ON AIR!
